It's so good, but I'm a bit sad that my current playthrough from last week can't load into 1.0...

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 days ago

Did they finish moving it to Godot before 1.0?

This means the story part is finished, right? I had a perfect run up to the point where the story wasn't finished last time I played, I wonder if my old save file will still work so I can just continue where I left off... 🤔

According to the release post, yes

The Caves of Qud 1.0 update includes:

  • The conclusion of the main quest, with multiple endings

Old save won't work, gotta start fresh

And it'll be worth it, depending on how long it's been there've been a lot of changes and improvements

I am super intrigued by this, might pick it up next time it goes on a big sale.

Anyone try playing it on the Deck?

I know it's on the "other" site, but this post from a few months ago has several people saying they got it working quite nicely: https://www.reddit.com/r/cavesofqud/comments/1dcqyym/regarding_qud_on_the_steam_deck/

Lemmy came through (below). Things are getting better here. I feel like we're reaching critical mass, if only we could stop the infighting.

Works great on Deck!

It's truly worth the price. DM me your steam handle if you feel comfortable and I'll gift it to you.

That's really awesome of you. Thank you for being an amazing person

They came through and sent me the game like they said!

[–] Biskii@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 days ago

Fantastic. I hope you enjoy it

Yes, it works fine on the Deck! I find the controls less convenient than kbm, but that might just be me; everything you need is mapped and it feels quite intuitive after a bit.

Caves of Qud is outstanding. I already had 400 hours logged before the 1.0 launch, and plenty more since!

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Will it run on Steam Linux?

[–] Adm_Drummer@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I was reading that the devs specifically did a revamp to map the deep control scheme for the Deck. So the answer to your questions is most likely yes.

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Cool! I’ll check it out when I get home. Thanks!!

[–] jimerson@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

I'm playing it regularly on my Steam Deck with no issues. Just took a quick read through of the control mapping.
