I wonder how much more hirelings will be used now that their appearance can be changed.

Do we have a fix for the Strange Ox murder bug and certain interactions with traders causing you to be unable to save?
Yeah this is getting a bit frustrating. I might look into reverting to patch 2 hotfix 6 this weekend, if my saves from hotfix 8 are backwards compatible.
I'm butting up against the edges of what I can do in game without seriously progressing and locking myself out of finishing quests I have basically completed, but just need to talk to someone nearby the strange ox at this point.
How do you do that? Roll back to a specific patch

This is the guide I've seen on it, looking into it it seems I am outta luck because you can't maintain saves from a later version. It might help you if you have been avoiding playing as a result tho. Or if future patches break things.

If you don't have filesystem snapshots, I think the simplest way would be to re-install the game and only apply the first few updates. This is easy with GOG. I guess it might be possible with Steam depots, though I haven't tried it.
If the ooze is still aggroing and killing Dammon, the fix that worked for me was to fast travel somewhere else as soon as Dammon and the ooze spawn in; you have to do it before he gets killed. If done correctly, you can fast travel back and he’ll be there while the ooze is gone. If his stuff is there but not him, that means he died, so reload and try again.
Sadly I’m sure this will affect the story down the road, but the alternative is to wait until Larian fixes this, and it’s been weeks now. Maybe they have by now and just didn’t put a patch note in, but I’ve progressed far enough past that it’s not worth going back to check
Yeah, I'm playing

Dark Urge, and the strange Ox seems to be in a similar situation, so I would like to follow their plot thread too. I think I know what's up with it, but still.
I might play around with that a little bit. Hotfix 8 seemed to change the behavior slightly for me, and cause the ooze not to appear immediately, but still fairly soon.
