The elite must be shitting themselves about how much joy us poors are finding out of this.

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 58 points 1 week ago (9 children)

STOP CALLING THEM ELITE.

The word 'elite' implies they are societies best. These rich dregs keep dragging us down.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Whenever I hear the rich described as "the elite", my brain immediately converted it to ThE eLiTe

Meh, the connotation is still clear.

[–] frosch@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago (4 children)

How about we just airquote them? The „Elite“ sounds condescending enough imo

True, if you look at people taking power and control in MAGA America, many are there because of their white skin and not resume or skill

Edit sorry if this comes across as racist, the intent is more to highlight how some of these people bring nothing else to the table

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmings.world 8 points 1 week ago

I call them the leech class.

If corporations can convince people that Coke is better than Pepsi ... or vice versa ... then it will just take time to make people forget about all this. They can market and promote any idea .... just some ideas are more expensive to promote than others ... and it will take them a lot of time and effort to spin this story in their favour .... but eventually, they always do.

I don't like to admit that people are complacent .... but hell, we've all got a great track record for it ... I hope not this time, but I've been disappointed far too many times before.

[–] Fuckfuckmyfuckingass@lemmy.world 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Everyday we all get up and make capitalism happen. It's up to us to stop making it.

I do my best and buy about half my food from local farmers (and that isn't easy in northern Ontario, especially during winter) ... a bit expensive, but so is buying from the grocery store too, so it works out.

You can still take steps to undermine the system while your forced participation is taking place. You could try local farmers markets, used goods, and the always fruitful five finger discount.

Every year I grow more food than the previous year. Someday I'm hoping to grow most of my non-meat items and then fork over the money for local organic meat and freeze it.

I keep scrolling the news to see if they know anything new about him, and they know absolutely nothing. It's amazing.

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or at least they have released nothing.

This whole thing feels right out of a comic book or a movie. That's exactly how it would go down too.

They fucking Naruto ran at Area 51... It could happen

[–] Earflap@reddthat.com 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They ran around in a town outside groom lake and never really approached the base because they wisely understood they would all be killed.

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

People gathered to take pictures in front of a bunch of cringing guards and no one was angry about anything. Everyone is actually angry over this so I'd say people may show.

The biggest player is a company called EviCore by Evernorth…

Just a letter off from “EvilCore” - could they be any more on-the-nose?

Looks a bit like Will Smith to me.

Or, maybe, Lucy Liu.

Or, maybe, Patrick Stewart.

Or maybe, Elmer Fudd.

Hard to pin to down. Sorry. No, I probably couldn't pick him or her out of a line-up.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

While we have Nick Fuentes under arrest let's charge him with this too.
