Janusz Kowalski is so commonly known as an utter idiot here in Poland that there's even a copypasta about him not being real:

Janusz Kowalski does not exist. That is, he exists, but he is not human. The image of Janusz Kowalski was generated by a neural network based on the analysis of several thousand faces of an average Pole. He represents a kind of super-Pole. His name and surname are a wink at observers, he tells us: look hehe JANUSZ KOWALSKI, JANUSZ. KOWALSKI. He's just like you, your friend, you know, Janusz hehe Kowalski.

You might say that he writes on Twitter or you see him on TV. But are you sure? All his tweets are a compilation of random combinations of the PiS and Solidarna Polska programs. This creation has never expressed any original thought that was not already, in some way, chewed up propaganda material for its party. I bet dollars to chestnuts that we are dealing with a Chinese room here - "Janusz" uses empty party language (which in itself is devoid of a message, given the excessive form) but he himself does not understand what he is saying. Image on TV? What's the problem with generating it or inserting it later?

Or maybe someone saw him live? I don't. I don't know anyone who has seen Janusz Kowalski live. Why? Because he simply doesn't exist.

There is a conspiracy of silence over the existence of Janusz Kowalski in Poland. Why don't opposition politicians protest against the use of the malicious SPI (Artificial Pato Intelligence) in politics? Because it's convenient to have such a (literally!) bully to beat. The existence of SPI called Janusz Kowalski.exe benefits Budka, Czarzasty and Hołownia.

I demand immediate evidence of the existence of Janusz Kowalski.

Fun fact: the "J" in "Janusz" is silent.

Italian here 🍝 don't care too much about what they think about their or our pasta, given the current inflation rates we must be glad we still have something to eat.

What baffles me is that "Italian pasta" is called "włoski makaron" and that they call Italy "Włochy". It has something to do with Italian immigrants having had long/uncurated hair in the past, someone explained me, and I find it slightly insulting 🤣 but also funny at the same time.

It only resembles "hair" superficially, it's a term historically used to refer to Romanized tribes (like the Vlachs/Wallachia) and eventually it was reserved for Italians.

Interesting article... the name for Germans (Niemiecki) reminds me of the Romanian word "Nemți" with the same meaning, they must be cognates. Polish is a really fascinating language.

Because it has the same root. In Bulgaria we also call them Немци, pronounced the same way as in Romanian. Ням (nyam), means mute, plural is неми(nemi), Nemți sounds more like people from a land where people are mute (speak gibberish )

Doesn’t that mean “mute”, as in “their non-Slavic language sounds like gibberish to us”?

I didn't know it and you are absolutely right! Like in ancient Greek "βάρβαρος" (barbarian) which was used to design people who couldn't speak properly and were just babbling.
