β€œWe want to parent our kids until they're 18 and ready to make decisions by themselves. Whatever decision they make later, that's a decision as an adult."

The harder you parent, the stronger your children push back.

For a group of concerned parents, they seem to know less than me, and I've only been parenting for about 6 years.

Parental influence on behaviour begins dropping around the age of 6. At that point external influences, like friends at school, stat becoming more important. By adolescence it has dropped to around 50%. By 20 it is 0%. When you let a kid breathe and make mistakes, they will listen to you without needing overbearing control...

Clearly, this whole thing stinks of money. They are buying targeted ads on FB and adding a layer of embarrassment that will see Canada mocked and ridiculed. This is a hate group.

β€œIt's very, very simple,” he explained. β€œWe want to parent our kids until they're 18 and ready to make decisions by themselves. Whatever decision they make later, that's a decision as an adult."

Ok, that sounds like a reasonable argument.

β€œNow we're seen as taboo for asking that we have the right to raise our kids. We're seen as taboo, that our kids are being shown gay porn by adult males in skirts.”

Ok nevermind, you're fucking retarded.

β€œWe're making a note of everyone that is saying these defamation comments,” he said. β€œWhen you character assassinate somebody and put words [to it], you're pretty liable in a court of law.”

Yes El-Cheikh, I called you fucking retarded. Let's go.

That article's comment section is insane lol. Just saying stuff that's never happened or not true, without any evidence, and then going out and protesting these imaginary things is crazy.

This is clearly a propaganda piece. Or, if we're being kind, biased reporting. There was absolutely no mention of counter protests or differing opinions. Not surprised the comments in such a space are vitriolic.

Still, I appreciate this being posted. We need time to organize counter protests. I'm sure less-biased sources will pick this up soon, if it gains traction.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

For sure, if anything articles like these make me want to get out and counter protest even more.

Western Standard is not a great paper. It's run by Derek Fildebrandt who was at one point leader of the (now dissolved) Freedom Conservative Party of Alberta.

You bet your ass it's a propaganda piece.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I just assume most comment sections is foreign propaganda

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

It's the western standard. All they do is propaganda and biased reporting.

That's their entire reason for existing.

At least the comments pointed out the counter protests were paid for by ANTIFA

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Strange, I didn't get an antifa cheque...

Grooming children for pedophiles seems to be Trudeau’s chief priority

What a sick disturbed b@stard

It’s like we have Paul Bernardo as PM

This one was really good

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If by good you mean coo coo bananas.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Western Standard is a far-right tabloid written by and for a bunch of raging cunts who refuse to mind their own business.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

I could tell haha. It was like landing on another planet, especially when I turned off the adblocker and saw all the cryptocurrency ads and the thing about blackouts. The spin and slant throughout was nauseating.

A better question to ask about events, groups, associations and movements like this is ..... WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM?

There are lots of communities out there of all types on the right and left and center who all have an agenda for one thing, or idea or movement in mind.

Personally I'm an NDP supporter and I'm on the left. We have thousands of supporters across the country but we never see the light of day and we never show much attention for ourselves. We also never get that much done on the political stage ... as much as what we want anyway.

You know what the difference is? We have no money or we never have enough of it.

The thing that drives movements, groups or major protests is a core group of fanatics ... but every group has those ... the main thing that makes these movements powerful and prominent is money and financial support. The NDP has their core group of fanatics but they never have any money or financial support, which is why they never gain prominence.

You need money to organize, you need money to get people online, you need money to get a group of workers to spread social media messages, make social media messages and engage people ... you need money to advertise, to print material, to spread material, to host events, to hold gatherings, to drive people, to make tshirts, to make coffee cups, to make stickers, etc, etc

And the more money you have, the more prominent your movement is. The NDP has little to no money, which is why they are barely holding onto the national headlines. A small group of right wingers wanting to protest mandates, freedom, protecting children in a short period of time? They are able to grab headlines more than a well established NDP political group. And to grab national headlines like this ... it takes thousands and millions of dollars of support.

Movements aren't born of the charisma of a few people ... it's born out of how much money they have or are given.

So the question always boils down to ... WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM?

I'd love to know too. And not just for this, for everything. I live in France now, and not that long ago there was a fundraiser for a police officer. He never received his money because the government stepped in. They discovered that a very high amount of money was coming from Americans for some reason. I would wager that some of the money being put towards this protest is coming from a mix of confused citizens, politicians, and religious groups from around the world. Likely the same people that organize "whites only" parties.

This is just a guess, mind you.

Although US specific "dark money" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Money_(book), provides some answers.

The Netflix show has nothing to do with the book

Bad actors with poisonous thoughts have turned their attention and money to Canada.

Could this β€œnewspaper” simp any harder for hate?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

"newspaper" is a stretch lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

They've been doing this since day 1.

Rightwingnut propaganda is the entire reason for the western standard to exist.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

Ah yes everyone knows that school these days is little more than hours and hours of watching gay porn.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Is there anyone organizing counter protests? Or even with a non-Facebook schedule?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I was in the counter-protest in Edmonton and it was a chaotic mess. We need to get organized soon and we need competent people to organize things. I don't know where to find those people though.
