Took in a neighborhood cat who we saw outdoors on an after-dark walk who walked along with us for 45 minutes and came home with us. It was after dark and freezing out, and there are often coyotes lurking around our neighborhood. We kicked her out the next day, hoping she’d find her way home, but that evening she was back after dark. We took her in again and wrote a note to the neighborhood listserv with pictures of her, hoping to find the owner. After several days staying with us for safekeeping, the owner got ahold of me and yelled at me, saying that outdoor cats will find their way home and we SHOULD NOT ever take her in. How are we to know that it was an outdoor cat? (She wasn’t wanting to go home…) No good deed!
