So... 175,000 square kilometers of Canada was on fire this summer... Eclipsing all recorded records... Most of it in the west... And they're STILL pushing to extract more oil & gas.

I'd ask how fucking stupid they are, but I'm pretty sure this summarizes it sufficiently...

It's not how stupid they are, it's how greedy and uncaring they are.

Your tax dollars at work.

The province whose entire economy depends upon the continued growth of the consumption of fossil fuels has issues with regulations that reduce the impact of fossil fuels on the planet?! Shocking I say! Flabbergasted even!

That’s not fair, the only reason their entire economy is oil is because of the conservative governments

Indeed. It's also the province with the most to lose with climate change (likely desertification, they can barely keep their soil as it is), and a province with enough wind and scorchingly sunny days to be the Saudi Arabia of wind and solar. But yeah, they manage that potential well by doubling down on an economy based on oil alone. It makes cow-towing to lobbyists easy if there is only the one major one.

Perhaps the complete-bankrupting of Canada would be preferred to switching-to-other-industries??

Incorporated narcissistic machiavellian psychopathy.
