Good shave. Missed yesterday for work reasons. No issues today with a little more growth.

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 1)
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (41)
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Diamond - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Petrichor - Aftershave

Ok fine, so I guess I'm not done with this blade yet. Still skin friendly, so no aftershave burn. Got a close shave, but it took a lot of buffing. I even revisited doing an ATG pass on my lower neck, something that I did with mixed results for my first 2+ years of wetshaving and stopped about a year ago. Since stopping ATG on my neck I have had zero irritation, even when wearing a collared work shirt. It didn't seem to bother me today, so we'll see when I go to work later!

I bet that blade has at least another 489 shaves in it :)

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Settantisemo Straightember 33. Last night I received a Kanayama 10000 cordovan strop and an Asano Koma nagura (slurry stone). Of course I had to try these, so I did an edge refresh of my Filarmónica 13. To quote @whosgotthepudding (and, well, the Mandalorians), "This is the Way". I have never honed this razor before. I have been using the shave-ready edge that was on it when I bought it. So, yes, now it's my edge, but this was the best shave I've had with this razor, by far, and one of closest 2-pass shaves I've had.

Today I also tried using very fine talcum power post-shave. I repurposed a tiny badger travel brush for applying it. Clearly experience must be gained here. I applied a small amount of talc to the brush and received a bomb of powder when I applied it. I'm pretty sure that applying talc post-shave is way beyond my level of sophistication, but I'm emboldened by so many days of Saponificio Varesino use :)

Third Day of TabOKtoberfest

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal
  • Razor: Böker Abalone
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

I switched the razor, but kept the rest of the setup as yesterday. Aside from being glorious in its own right, using the Stank Trinity® daily will let me concentrate on the O(ffene)K(linge) part of TabOKtoberfest and appreciate my open blade hardware for a month.

This Böker is the most recent addition to my den, and this is my 16th shave with it. It has a scary looking spike point that poked me once in the cheek when I didn't pay attention, but I've started appreciating that feature when clearing the moustache just under the nostrils WTG. This design lets me do that while making a 27% less funny face than other razors in this size range (6/8") because I don't need to get my nose out of the way as much.

27% is pretty substantial!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I thought so too! Well worth 100% more cheek stabbings 😂

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

and this is my 16th shave with it

Clearly you need to refresh that edge! [A voice faintly rising from way down that rabbit hole :)]

Lol, yes, clearly!

October 3, 2023: Give War a chance

There are probably still two shaves in my sample of War, which I got from @whosgotthepudding. My quest will be to finish it this week. The stank is definitely not Tabak-like, but some effort is required to end war.

Have a good night!

SOTD 03.10.23

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Stando Perun
  • Blade: Voskhod
  • Brush: vintage yellow bakelite w/ 22 mm AP Shave Co. SynBad
  • Lather: Stirling Soap - Autumn Glory
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap - Autumn Glory AS; moisturizer
  • Fragrance: Halloween Man X EDT

2 pass face shave that took place before my late shift. What else to use for a cloudy, rainy day than Autumn Glory? It's a very similar scent to a popular Yankee Candle of the same name and I really enjoy it. I kinda messed up with the fragrance for today, Halloween Man X is more of a treat than a trick. Means it's much too sweet in contrast to the darker Autumn Glory - but you can't always get it 100% right.

Streets were nicely empty today, as it's a public holiday over here. But nursing is a profession that never stops and I get a little bonus for working on holidays...
