Hi all,

I’m running into a strange issue with my network setup, and I could use some advice. Here’s my current setup:

Network Configuration:

  • Modem: Telenet CV8560E (in Bridge Mode)
  • Router: Asus RT-AX59U (receiving a public IP address)
  • PC: Wired connection with a static IP (192.168.50.58)

The Problem:

  • I have set up port forwarding on the Asus router for both TCP and UDP ports needed for Call of Duty (BO6). The specific ports are:
    • TCP: 3074, 3075, 27014-27050
    • UDP: 3074, 3478, 4379-4380, 27000-27031, 27036
  • When I run a web server on ports like 8080 or 3074 (TCP), I can access it externally without any issues. This confirms that TCP port forwarding is working properly.
  • However, when I scan for UDP ports using nmap, all the specified ports show up as filtered or no response, even after disabling the firewall on the Asus router.

What I’ve Tried So Far:

  1. Verified port forwarding rules on the Asus router (set to BOTH TCP/UDP where applicable).
  2. Disabled UPnP, NAT Acceleration, and DoS Protection on the Asus router.
  3. Temporarily enabled DMZ for my PC’s IP address (192.168.50.58), which results in an Open NAT type, but I’d prefer not to use DMZ for security reasons.
  4. Restarted the modem, router, and PC multiple times to ensure settings are applied correctly.
  5. Confirmed that my PC’s default gateway points to the Asus router, and I’m using the router’s public IP or DDNS for external access.

My Question:

  • Why would TCP port forwarding work perfectly, but UDP ports remain filtered, even when the firewall is disabled and the correct rules are in place?
  • Is there something specific with the Asus RT-AX59U that could be causing this issue with UDP traffic, or is there another setting I might be missing?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
