They killed captcha support in 0.18, which basically negates one of the methods to stop the bots... so if we upgrade, we will likely need to email verification until 0.18.1 is released OR stay on 0.17.4 until 0.18.1 is released where they've promised to bring it back.

Looks like 0.18.1 was released yesterday and I think it re-adds captcha.

Current Voyager is broken with 0.17.4. I assume there are still upgrade blockers?

I suggest we wait until we have new captcha.

I don't like enter email and have mod manual verified. I strongly believe that Lemmy need to be open.

And captcha solve the problem of bot and spam.

The release notes recommend to wait until 0.18.1 if you rely on captchas

There don't seem to be any major features in 0.18.0 so I think we should stay

off topic: I just need to thank you for asking your community before making changes (imagine the world if u/spez asked the reddit community if the API should be monetized)

This is why I can't seem to find latte.isnot.coffee Lemmy instance on Jerboa for Lemmy (Android app). Guess I will have to wait - or find another Android client. Captcha is the reason I got on here, so I would say wait.. Thanks for providing a platform for the Reddit refugees!

Use connect for Lemmy. Work great.

No, absolutely not. Not until 0.18.1 is released and captcha has returned, and hopefully an upgraded more complicated version of captcha.
