Taiwan Air Force F-16V fighters captured footage of PLAAF J-15 fighters using SNIPER-XR targeting pods during China's Joint Sword-2024B exercises near Taiwan.

The exercise began on October 14, 2024, and involved not only the Navy but also the Air Force, Rocket Force, and Coast Guard of China. Video footage obtained using the thermal imaging mode of the Sniper-XR targeting pod confirmed that the fighter jet spotted was a J-15, a derivative of the Russian Su-33
