This is completely expected, CDBCs are fine in theory, but in practice the government would be able to decide what you can spend your money on, where you can spend it, how much, and how often. Without massive, top to bottom reform, the British government will never earn enough trust for the people to be comfortable with that.

IMO, the only good thing about CBDC's is that it would get the average Joe used to using digital coins and therefore make using other digital coins less of a barrier to entry.

Of course, governments would never allow other coins so they claim that any and all other coins are banned or a scam to scare the public.
