I’m thinking RES style never ending home page; and handling that damn “subscribe to community on other instance” UI workflow.

My gut says neither is complex per se, even though replicating RES in its entirety would be a heavy lift.
Honestly if I do any improvement code that only needs to be single-instance, I'll try to upstream the work. Maintaining something like RES is only necessary if the developers of the original don't want those features.
