I've recently become enamored with the music of Swamp Dogg. The first song I head that really struck me, from his 1970 debut, Synthetic World has been totally destroying my mind with how relevant it feels today. Main chorus has the line
"So you see, my patience is growing thin with this synthetic world we're living in." But the line that really got me was,
"...and now I find I'm out of place if I only have one face. All my friends have more than two, no longer must you be you...".
Within the context of the Synthetic World idea it just matches up so well with the idea of Facebook and social media! I know he was probably talking about being two-faced there but I find the song to fit into context better today than the 50 YEARS ago it was written! Anyway shout out if you've got some love for Swamp Dogg or have other good songs that feel prophetic or more relevant today than when they were written.
