Lawyers for former President Donald Trump are pushing back against efforts by federal prosecutors to streamline arguments and potential appeals in his 2020 election interference case, arguing they could improperly influence the 2024 race for the White House.

In papers filed Monday in federal court in Washington, defense attorneys contended that special counsel Jack Smith's plans to file an oversized brief about whether certain Trump actions from his presidency were official or unofficial acts is improper and should not be allowed.

I can't stand the way the courts are being held up. So trump lawyers file a delay, then argue it's too close to the election/might influence it. They argue the president has immunity for official acts, but no it's improper to assess what acts are official. Mother fuckers- it should influence the election. America deserves to know if they're voting for a candidate guilty of enabling an insurrection.

It’s absolutely infuriating how absurd our “system” has become. There are jokes, and then there’s the U.S. government and judicial branch. It’sa whole other level of bullshit.

The most fury-inducing thing? There’s not a fucking thing us normies can do about it. We just have to watch the collapse in real time.

Whether it should or not is completely irrelevant. It's plenty arguable that any events influence elections, regardless of how close those events are to the election. That's how people make voting decisions, on things that happen.

Judge Chutkan has already strongly expressed that her court will not consider anything election related when proceeding through this case.

That would be good news in any of his other cases, but might not be ideal for the one about election interference 😉

It was literally televised. We all saw him do it, and I'm in another country. How the fucker isn't in prison a hundred times over at this point is insane.

While yes, absolutely we all saw this, he deserves his trial just like any other criminal. More importantly the American public deserves the disgusting gritty details that will be revealed.

He doesn't deserve a trial if he keeps delaying it. It seems to me he doesn't want one.

So... interfering in an interference case.

Jack Smith’s plans to file an oversized brief about whether certain Trump actions from his presidency were official or unofficial acts is improper and should not be allowed.

Then how the fuck do you determine it after the SCOTUS ruling?!

They got it fucked up. An election should not influence a trial.
