In this scenario, i agree. But out in battle, this could cost lives. Which, sadly isn't very expensive in China.

Probably based on T-72 yes, just like 80% of new tanks outside NATO.

Actually, no. This is a Type 96 tank, which is variant of a Type 85iii. Very much a original design albeit inspired by Soviet tanks like T-64 or T-80.
