I set up this community mostly because r/grandrapids went private as a part of the ongoing protest (which I fully support) and I missed having a place to see what’s going on around town. Hopefully we can get at least a small portion of that here.

If anybody stumbles upon this and knows of a better alternative, let me know!

I took a look at r/grandrapids a few days after the blackout and it seemed just as active as before.

Kinda what I expected. I'm off twitter and reddit, fully adopted mastodon and slowly getting more and more used to kbin.

Excited for an iOS app.

Have you tried Memmy? It’s available on iOS through Testflight and is getting updates almost daily.

Yeah, I did mess with that a bit when I was first using Lemmy but then I migrated to kbin.
