Hot tip: being your authentic self will attract people who vibe with you.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Also keeping in mind that being your authentic self does not mean making no effort.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Ooh you know that’s right.

It does if your authentic self is making no effort. But it also means you'll never meet the other no-effort people.

Where's my little freaky weirdo? I can't find them... 🥺

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

At all costs present only your true little freaky weirdo self in all social situations, flaws and all. If you pretend to be something else to impress, hide what makes you uniquely you, you might meet someone who is okay but one day one of you will realize that your different enough that it won’t work. On your journey of being the real little freaky Kolanaki, plenty of people will pay you no mind and move right along but one day you’ll meet someone like you. Might not be your little freaky weirdo but will give you confidence to be even truer to your little freaky weirdo self. That cycle may keep going for sometime, which will almost certainly result in some new freaky weirdo friends. And then one day you’ll find your own little freaky weirdo and it is at that point, baby, you’ll be cooking with gas.

It’s rough but not a bad way to phase it, if you try to be someone else you’ll eventually discover there’s problems later on. Most importantly people have to remember to be patient, it’s a slow process with high rewards if you stick to it. 👍

I got mine. I married my best friend.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Are they... the same person?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I need one for all the people in my life that I thought were soul mates but turned out to be toxic in the second half of friendship

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What do you mean by toxic in the second half of friendship? I’m genuinely curious about this pattern you’ve observed

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

It's of course not in general that was just my personal experience because I seemingly attract toxic people.

It's just that they were people I used to consider my best friend and my better best friend after that etc etc.. And some while into the friendship they just change, and no matter how forgiving I was or whatever I did or tried to change myself for the "better", it only ever became worse with them. We'd start fighting more regularly over increasingly mundane things, after a while our fights errupted into insults that get more serious with every other fight to the point where after the 50th fight or so I just didn't say anything anymore because it was pointless.

In my opinion the problem was that we became way too dependent on each other, for being only best friends, and loaded each other with so much of our own stress and trauma that at some point they just had to snap (I can handle stress pretty well because it's very much my standard emotion by now). I don't know how they saw it and I won't ask them because I know they'll just bombard me with insults or try to gaslight me.

It's only my personal experience, again. I hope some day someone can prove me wrong.

Wait, when the heck did they introduce a blue ditto??

/I haven’t watched pokemon in 20+ years

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm assuming it's one of those newfangled "shiny" things.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

"Newfangled"? Shinies have existed since Gen 2. Granted, they've been made absurdly more common in recent gens. I think originally they were like a 1/1024 chance.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I used to watch Pokemon on Cheez TV before school, but I'd always miss the end as I needed to leave for school.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago
