Rules:
- All DubVee instance rules apply. See the sidebar at https://dubvee.org. Those are pretty comprehensive, so we don't really need to add much to those.
- No politics outside of what's referenced on the show. Let's leave that drama elsewhere since there's plenty of it.
- All posts must be 30 Rock related or adjacent. You dummies are awesome, so I don't think I've ever had to mod any posts for this, but codifying it for good measure.
- Less a rule and more of a guideline, but please try to provide alt text if your instance + client combination support it. If not, then please try to make an effort to provide a description of any image posts in the post body. Let's be an a11y when we can :)
- Don't make fun of people for misusing dated cultural references. Are we all cowabunga on this?
- No talking about Krang. It would be a waste of time to talk about Krang on ~~television~~ the internet.
The fact that he was in costume in the episode is just great
They killed him!
The tooth sticking through his lip still freaks me out.
Bah Gawd! As God is my witness, he is broken in half!
He's also a terrific person who constantly working for charities and doing community events. And he may well be Santa Claus, though he insists he's only an ambassador.
He's one of very few wrestlers from that era I've never heard anything bad about, and it always makes me nervous to mention that because I'm worried someone will come along and tear down my last remaining childhood wrestling hero.
The women who he shared a locker room in the early 2000s trusted him enough to change in front of him. They all said he was more like a big brother, and protector rather than a predator the other men might have been.
When asked if Mick Foley ever groped her, Torrie Wilson said "One time he touched my arm....but thats as close as he ever got to touching any of us."
And another time he wanted to make a big comeback to wrestling. He wanted to ride santas sleigh, from the top of the arena to the ring.
Vince McMahon rejected the idea for logistical reasons. Saying it was too hard to rig a safe way to carry an entire sled from up there.
Vince said "Even if I could find a sled capable of carrying your fat ass from the top of the arena, and even if Owen Hart hadn't already died in a similiar stunt, Mick, do you realize it's god damned March??? Nobody wants to see Santa in March!"
The thing that offended Foley the most was the idea of people not wanting to see Santa. Mick has a room in his house that's always decorated in Christmas decorations, playing Christmas music. 365 days a year.
So I think you're safe.
Omg I know right? Every year I'm like "whew Mankind made it through another one" lmao
Not just any wrestler either, one of the hardest workers there was, and by all accounts a really solid guy. Mick Foley is a treasure and I'm always happy to see him show up.
There's also an episode where Frank is wearing a Cactus Jack shirt and his hat says Foley Artist, both of which refer the the same wrestler.
S3E6 "Christmas Special"
That guy is fearless. In one event he wrestled 3 matches. One as mankind, one as dude love and one as his most insane character, Cactus Jack. They don’t make them like him anymore.
