I was born in 2002 so I was only 7 or so when MJ died and I was obviously decently away from being born during his most popular decode - the 1980s

I like some of his music, and obviously he deserved to be popular but what I really don’t get is why he had the level of fame he had.

What’s so special about him or his music? It’s good sure but not Gods gift to the Earth ya know?

Was it because he, in a way, made that style of pop music more well known?

Like people were FAINTING and throwing up in his presence. Every little movement he made was being photographed.

I’m not trying to hate but I really have never understood that level of hype for any artist
