So my (14f) mother hardly ever cleans the house (to the point where we had mice in the kitchen and mould in the bathroom) and my father doesn’t either as he is mostly at work. She also refuses to cook for us sometimes saying there is ‘food in the fridge’ (when there is literally nothing) .This leaves me with the worst living environment ever to the point where I usually just rot in bed and don’t come out of my room, which my parents called me out for. I told my mother that she hardly cooks or cleans for us and her retort was that I should cook and clean for myself even though I am literally only 14.
I seriously don’t understand how it’s my responsibility to cook for myself? This usually means I have to go out and buy my own groceries, which is honestly really inconvenient and a 20 minute walk. Then, when my mother does cook, all she cooks is chicken nuggets or fish fingers which is extremely unhealthy and I do not like to eat those types of junk foods. There is also usually rotting food in the kitchen so I try to avoid stepping in there. Whenever I confront my mother, she just finds another way to blame it on me. I could be the asshole for telling her to do such things as to cook and clean, which are offensive stereotypes. My father isn’t on my side either, saying I should treat my mother with more respect, although I never receive respect from either of them.
