In case anyone is wondering this does not mean there will be a election soon just more political turbulence.

The end of the confidence-and-supply agreement doesn't necessarily mean an immediate election. The Liberals could seek the support of the Bloc Québécois or try to continue negotiating with the NDP on a case-by-case basis.

Thank god. Let’s not play into the hands of conservatives.

It seems like a bad time to call an election. I'm a bit skeptical we won't be looking at an election very soon though. Singh released what is a basically a campaign video earlier today, so it seems like they think it'll be soon 🤷‍♂️

They're essentially going for broke with a finger in on the trigger for a election. This could get the Liberals to yield on some extra things which would win NDP some votes or a very early election which would be a big loss to the NDP and Liberals.

Liberals could also technically call their bluff and just keep on with what they're doing in which case could win them some NDP voters.

Yeah, it seems like a risky play for the NDP. They're unlikely to be more powerful post-election. If it looks like the Cons are gonna win, people are more likely to vote strategically for the Libs to keep them out. It seems like they have a lot to lose. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few weeks.

People shit on Jagmeet as being a poor leader, but I think he's done surprisingly good job getting policies out of the Liberals with 25 seats.

On the side of winning extra seats for his party he's getting into Kevin Falcon(BC United) level of competency where he's close to folding up his party. As a NDP Voting Reform person I hope this gamble works out.

Parliament in back in session Sept 16th.

Trudeau said his government is more focused on tackling the affordability crisis and climate change.

Ok, well those have been catastrophic problems for at least 30 years. How much focus time is needed before any action is taken?

Tacklkng the affordability and climate crisis by making cheap EVs more expensive to import

Our overreliance on Chinese manufacturing is absolutely obliterating us on several fronts, not just EVs.

The question shouldn't be "Why aren't we allowing shitty Chinese EVs?", it should be "Why are we allowing shitty Chinese everything instead of relying on domestic production or production from states with half decent standards and practices?"

Isn't it funny how the average person was more prosperous decades ago when we accomplished a lot more domestically?

Fuck China

Didn't Harper kind of screw us over by signing FIPA back in 2014? I haven't heard anything about it but those Chinese EV companies will probably sue us over these tariffs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

Yeah, Harper definitely fucked us on that one.

I mean, they put in the carbon tax. I'd say they've taken action on that one.

Watch PP partying that he's going to have his election before people realize what his game is.
