This will be a home for all things related to the cultivation of cannabis. The preferred focus here will be organic and sustainable growing methods, but any cannabis growers or growers-to-be are welcome!

The moderator and community creator here is in a legal cannabis state. It is therefore assumed that everyone sharing photos and info about their grows is also doing so legally. If you're not, then keep that to yourself. Any mention of actively conducting a cannabis grow illegally will be removed. This is to protect our instance admin, and will be a zero-tolerance policy.

Happy growing!

It seems like there are quite a few experienced growers on here. Could you share your insights for any newcomers? (e.g. me)

Cannabis is a very versatile plant. It most certainly grows like a weed - as long as it has water and light, it will do what it's supposed to do. But as far as quality and yield, you will get from it what you put into it.

If you are just starting out, keep those things in mind. The Internet is awash with different, sometimes conflicting, advice on how to min/max your plants, but don't get overwhelmed by that. Pick a few tips/tricks to focus on at first, and then learn from those as you go.

As mentioned above, spend time with your plants everyday, and watch how they respond to their environment and the things you do to them/give to them. You'll slowly pick up on the subtle ways they express themselves.

It is incredibly easy to grow the plants. But mastering it takes practice, patience and a lot of attention over time.

If you need more specific advice or troubleshooting tips, don't be afraid to ask!

Are there any sources that you would recommend? I like your approach: I'm not really interested in min/maxing it, but just to see it grow in a healthy way for now.

https://www.growweedeasy.com/basics has some decent, easily digestible guides. There's better info out there, but I do tend to like their simple approach to teaching the basics.

https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-growing-cannabis-c3 also has some decent info. I have never purchased anything from them, so can't offer opinions of them as a vendor/merchant. (Scroll towards the bottom of this link for their table of contents

My favorite podcast is https://www.kisorganics.com/pages/podcast if you'd like to get into the more technical side of organic growing

Something that really can help learn how your plants are doing is timelapse video, I make an open source tool that makes it easy to do long durations using a raspberry pi and webcam but there are loads of ways to do it.

Apart from that just get to know the plants, they're so fascinating and when you know how they grow and what they're doing at each stage you'll notice problems do much easier

Spend time with your ladies every day, it makes it easier to notice little issues before they become major problems (nutrient/ watering issues, pests, lighting, etc).

Also don't skimp on the lights, they're the one part of my set up I noticed a major improvement once I upgraded.
