It's probably a Sonic or something similar. You'd park and order your food via those terminals then they'd deliver it to your car where you'd eat it or take it with you.
I agree, waste of resources. Used to be they'd have servers on skates come take your order from your car, then they'd deliver it to your car when ready. Places like this don't typically have an indoor place to sit and eat.

Yeah, there are at least like 8 or 10 of these in the fairly small city I live in. It's very much a thing in the midwest U.S. .
And, this is 100% for sure a Sonic location. Those telltale neon-lit notches out of the awning there give it away.
