they really are, i mean the machine itself when turned on looks like a fuckin industrial shredder and it's designed to rip the hair from your body (@_@)
but, as you say, beauty is pain :')
It hurts at first because it has to take out all the hair at once. But since it grows back one hair at a time, ulterior uses are much less painful. I have found that wax hurts a lot less than epilators, so what you could do is wax one time to get started then use the epilator for maintenance.
see what's funny is i actually bought a wax kit first but was advised to go with epilators since their reusable and a little easier and both hurt like hell anyways (´ . .̫ . `)
First time is the worst, but it gets progressively less violent and painful as you continue. Take as long as you need per area, this will only be so slow in the short term.
i kid you not it's been 4 hours and I'm just reaching the end of one leg. one.
hopefully it gets better like you said but this shit sucks frfr (´;ω;`)
edit: i took 600mg of ibuprofen at the beginning of this and it did not help much
I started with half a limb per day because that was as much pain as I could tolerate, but after a few months most hairs were painless and the worst ones only hurt as much as a pinch.
...i hadn't even considered that
ok yeah i just about finished the one leg ill take your advice an stop for tn. tysm <3
<3 im so sorry you fell for its song, good luck, did you cut the leg hair down to ~ 5mm prior to epilating? (thats around 0,19685 freedom units.... or about one fifth of an inch?)
i shaved a couple weeks ago and grew it out, idk how to actually measure the length of hair but I did my best using a fabric ruler and i think it was just about 5mm??
going over it with the trimmer attachment didn't cut off any hair tho n it's supposed to trim down to 5mm soooo im assuming im good??
:/ then it was probably just because it was the first time... it really hurts bad the first couple of times... it may help to go by hand for a bit and lighten up that forest with flat tipped tweezers? just ripping one hair out or a group of three or what ever you have ^^'' may be less painful than the constant buzz of the rollers... just use new and disinfected tweezers
i cannot find tweezers for the life of me, it's like none of the stores in my area sell any
Epilators hurt like hell. Good luck and god speed.
What model? I have ran a couple into the ground. Philips was terrible the whole time, but got worse and I eventually got a different brand. My Braun silk epil 9 has been great, but required a head replacement at some point. These epilators wear out such that they don't grab as well, just yanking on the same hairs and not actually plucking them - ow.
Tips...
- trim first. Epilating full length hairs enables the yanking-not-plucking since it's most effective at plucking when the tweezer is directly above the hair it's grabbing
- be clean and not sweaty. Epilating in a hot house is really painful.
- though they're marketed for wet use, I've found this results in a bad trim and not an epilation
- don't try to mow areas like a lawn maximizing hairs per pass. Start at the edges of hairy areas and overlap it as little as possible with each pass unless you can stand more. If you try to make use of the full width of a 1.5" head it's gonna be a bad time.
- Upkeep every week or two is about 10% as much hassle and pain as upkeep every month or two. They don't all grow back at once so density is greatly reduced when upkeeping before full regrowth occurs
braun silk epil 9! thanks for the advice, yeah i didn't bother with wet use at all, didn't seem ideal. also my hairs are around the max recommended length, should i trim shorter? also also the upkeep thing is defo a fantastic idea, imma have to do that.
You can always experiment with length. Hair is one of those things thats very unique to a person so my advice might not apply perfectly everywhere. Hope it works out
they are not really for men. they hurt women too, but men tend to have thicker hair. it can get bloody.
