Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

I don't think China will respect us even if we ban that movie.

We don't expect respect from abusive governments.

You have a point there but the lack of action will embolden them. If there are no consequences to their claims, no matter how small, they’d keep believing that we’re okay with them.

They don't need anything from us to embolden or discourage them. They have something we don't. It's something we're trying to have by alliances.

This. Action is so important especially on a situation like this. It’s like giving an inch, them taking a mile.

However, MTRCB has also requested the film's distributor, Warner Bros., “to blur the controversial lines in order to avoid further misinterpretations.”

That's a fair compromise in case plausible deniability lang yun binawasan ng isang dash line. Eliminate even a small margin of victory for China, whether existing or imagined.
