Recently switched computers and realized that Google maps is running really slow now. Severe stuttering, longer loading times, etc. The site works normally on chromium based browsers (tested edge, chrome, Vivaldi). Anything I can do?

Old PC had Radeon graphics and new has Intel integrated and Nvidia, if that's relevant.

Google Maps REALLY does not like Firefox or anyone trying to block Canvas or JavaScript tracking …

I agree, Maps became almost unusable once I activated canvas blocking. This is likely the culprit, OP

once I activated canvas blocking.

are you using it via an extension or something else?

I use the CanvasBlocker extension in conjunction with Firefox's internal privacy.resistFingerprinting flag, which also restricts canvas access I believe

You didn't mention your OS. If this is Ubuntu with a Firefox install via Snap, do yourself a favor and setup the Flatpak version instead. 200% speed difference, and isolated runtime.

This is Windows 10. I've tried Ubuntu and Arch on the same computer, and they were both faster.

Try messing with the hardware acceleration options in the advanced settings. I can't say I've seen any stuttering using just Intel integrated graphics or on my laptop with Intel + Nvidia quadro. If your using Linux there's a good chance it's a Nvidia driver issue. You could open the developer tools side by side with Firefox and Chrome and go to the network or performance tabs and compare side by side.

For me, this has been the case for years, at least on Windows and Linux. It happens mostly on Maps, but also on Docs/Sheets, and to a lesser extent on GMail.

I use Firefox, but I have never had the same experience with it as those who claim it's just as fast as Chrome.
