As a German, I take offence at the comparison of modern society with the Holocaust. (Doesn't mean it's generally a bad read.)

Why would a German take offense at this? A Jewish person - maybe.
BTW, being that, I don't. I actually studied the Holocaust. In my opinion none of the fundamental reasons of the Holocaust have been addressed by modern societies. The thing itself and the need for prevention of such have been distorted and used to support those fundamental reasons, and to help new genocides, and to make propaganda stronger. Mechanisms justified by need to fight Nazis are being used by Nazis to fight me.
