I noticed that I’m no longer subscribed to any communities from programming.dev, and none of them show up in search. Did we defederate from them? Was it intentional or is something just busted?

Nope. Probably you have to search for the community you want, wait several seconds, then try again after it fetches that content. Lemmy's a bit idiosyncratic about that sometimes.

We are not defederated from them. The only 4 blocked instances are lemmygrad, lemmynsfw, and 2 loli instances.

Try searching specifically by the URL of a community, then when it comes up, hit subscribe.

Yeah I've tried that and it works for most communities, but not programming.dev. Alas!

It should eventually work. Maybe their site was overloaded or backlogged with federation when you tried it. I'm able to see some of the content there right now in the main feed though.
