Noses are pretty similar. The big one has no discernible chest.

One, or both, of them may be a corpse. Photos were very expensive back then, and often only made after someone died.
In 1915? No.
Some of the lower quality black and white photos of the time. especially reprints like this, can obscure or erase facial details.
I guess it's good if a photo of one never appears with "fig. n" as a caption.
