to the anti-social problems centered around teenagers in Dublin?
As an outsider looking in, via Reddit and other media sources, it's fucking scary. It's like the bloody wild west. Increasing numbers of groups of young people causing mayhem across the city. Fair enough if they are striking out against the system, but do so through graffiti or petty vandalism. Not going around assaulting innocent people. That's just a whole other level of fucked up.
What is their end game? What are they hoping to achieve? If it's purely for kicks, then we really need to rethink our legal system this type of behaviour is simply not acceptable.
I mean, what is the point in paying taxes when ordinary decent people can't even feel safe leaving their house?
So seriously, what's the real solution?
Heftier punishments? I'm not sure this is the solution because of the sheer amount of taxpayers money that would needed to catch, prosecute and follow up on these people, not to mention the length of time it would take and the minor affect it would have on change because these kids don't really give a fuck about the legal system.
Send the fuckers off to a boot camp on an island somewhere?
Hold the parents responsible (cut their dole)?
Give them some kind of responsibility? I know child labour is wrong but the likes of small insignificant part time jobs might help. Give them a sense of responsibility or even a realisation of what it takes to actually earn money and that it doesn't just magically appear in your bank account.
Maybe bring in a 2 year conscription to the defense forces to straighten them out? Although I'd imagine they would be just as idle and bored doing this.
Community service, not to far removed from chain gangs might be a nice one. Picking litter along the M50 would be a great sight for taxpayers.
