Is TOR network became super slow for you too ? (since ~15 may 2024) (lemmy.ml)

Hi,

Since ~two days I noticed drastic slowdown on the TOR network :/

Is this happening for you too ?

Do you know a website (or other) where we can see if the network have a problem ?

BTW, I wanted to post this on their forum but at the end of registration I got:

A moderator must manually approve your new account before you can access this forum. You'll get an email when your account is approved!

Never got the email :/ , for a project that protect user and anonymity I don't see why they use such a huge filter to create account.

I was on dread yesterday and they said that tor is needing more guard nodes because it's under a denial of service attack so if you can either run one or there are several places where you can apparently donate money and someone will run one for you then you should do that.

My relay has gone from running as primarily a guard to exclusively as a middle since the 14th. Why would it do that, if Tor needs more guards?

I have no clue. Keep in mind that's just what I read on dread. So take that with whatever grains of salt you prefer.

The tor metrics page shows that the performance got worse around 15th of may: https://metrics.torproject.org/torperf.html
