About us

"Veganism is a way of living that is just awesome, plus we totally get enough protein! Also, we totally get enough oral sex. Probably more than you, to be honest. Not bragging, just stating facts." - The Vegan Society

"They asked me to be careful and I was confused as to why, my b12 count has never been higher!" - John

"Dominion is horror filmmaking at its absolute finest." - IMDB"

Rules

  1. No meatflakes or meatflake Apologists

Absolutely under no circumstances are meatflakes allowed to freely participate in this community. Meatflakes/Carnists includes all persons who are not ethical vegans. We do not condone carnist coddling and hand-holding of any sort. This includes no advocating for animal deaths. The right to an animals life is non-negotiable. No advocating in favor of animal testing, death, or mass euthanasia.

  1. No Non-Leftists, Health and/or Environmental "Vegans"

Veganism is a leftist social justice movement for animal liberation. It is not a diet for your health and it is not for the human environment. This also, obviously, means No slurs/bigotry, Why would you even want to?

  1. No support of PBC

We do not condone or advocate for plant based capitalism. We will never support animal agriculture companies, or any business that exists to extract profit from vegans while funding animal exploitation. We are frustrated these businesses have infiltrated every vegan space and being represented online by ads for TVP and first world convenience food. We're not here to make food aisles bigger, this is about animal liberation. We have all had this convo already which leads us to rule 5

  1. No Debates/Serious Discussion

This is a community for memes for vegans and by vegans. There are lots of other places where you can have your debates.

  1. No Hero Worship, Influencers or Marketing

This is a community to jerk about veganism, not a place to promote your ego, new products, or embarrass yourself worshiping a YouTuber. If it is going to a good veganism related cause then message us and it will be approved at our discretion.

  1. No Meta Posting

Meta posting is usually very boring and not fit for a meme subreddit. I wish I could extend this to all the other vegan subreddits. If you really need to post meta about something with circlejerk in the name get a grip and delete your account

I guess he's mad that he can't read? It looks pretty clear to me. It's even communicating it multilingually.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago

It's even more clear if it's not that cropped picture. Here's the whole carton. Nowhere on it does it say "ice cream," and it's pretty clear that it's plant based.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (2 children)

And even if you can't read it has a helpful green plant like lid.

I put a plant leaf in my mouth once. It did not taste like ice cream. ☹️

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That was probably the rare leaf-leaf. Most do actually taste like ice cream. You should just try again, I bet it works next time.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

I just tried again. It tasted like leaf. You have made a powerful enemy today...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

and he said the sign said haagen-dazs. not even ice cream

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

People infected with conservatism tend to turn into Mr. Magoo when looking at the majority of evidence, it's easier to accept and spread FUD that way.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

There are good reasons to not buy or eat Haagen Dazs, but they're mostly related to the fact that they're owned by Nestle.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago

I don't get what he is complaining about..

The sign didn't say "Ice cream sale", the jar is clearly labeled as a plant based alternative and there's a legal requirement for the ingredients to be present on the side (thanks to liberal gov btw).

What more does this guy want? Oh, he wants his party in power, i see.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago

But it doesn't say "milk" or "ice cream", does it? He's actually upset because he saw "Haagen Dasz", and he thinks that that must contain dairy- he even said as much. Faux outrage designed to serve his political ends.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago

what? coconut cream doesn't come from a coconut cow?!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Stealthy plants. Plants in jungle camo. Plants in... plant's clothing. Plant plant. Semantic satiety. Plant

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

One irony is that the bugs intentionally put into his food are hidden under obscure names in the ingredients list. Words in small print like cochineal or carmine.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

TIL that in other countries ice cream always contains some kind of milk. Don't let this person come to Italy or they will be very disappointed in the lack of milk in almost all kinds of fruit flavored ice creams...

We call that stuff ~~gelato~~ sorbet in the US

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

In Australia, gelato just refers to Italian style ice cream, with sorbet being used to refer to the fruitier ones that usually have no dairy.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Same here, I just conflated the two

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I just thought it was a fancy way to call it so that stores could overprice it (never been to the US yet, but I have seen shops call it like that all around Europe). Today I discovered I was very wrong!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

I forgot the correct term. I meant sorbet

Suffering from Sun poisoning and a bad first degree sunburn since I was stupid and forgot that UV rays penetrate the clouds with no interference unlike visible light.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Sorry to hear that, take care!

Thanks for the clarification, now I learned even more! Here we have something with a similar name (sorbetto) that is actually very different (it's a beverage)... So confusing!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

His parents absolutely baked vegetables into his lasagna.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

And paint chips

when we’re buying milk, we get milk from a cow

So, milk from goat (female goat is called nanny, but writing it would be weird) or female buffalo is not real milk?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Human milk is not real milk

Human milk, commercially available, would be an interesting concept.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Human cheese, human yogurt, etc... I've brought this up to people before and most of them get really squicked out by it.

Honestly, I'd try it, but I feel like it might be too easy to spread diseases that way.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Pasteurization is a thing.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That doesn't reduce the amount of prions enough for me to risk it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

What is the reason for extra concern regardin human milk?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

@qyron @MeDuViNoX Well, we are not babies still. Milk from any mother would be for a baby, most generally her own.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

Human milk banks exist, as the concept of wet nurses, so sharing milk is not a novelty concept.

Humans also retain the capability to digest milk throughout their entire lives (yes, exceptions apply), so the problem of biological use is already solved as well.

The last barrier may be on the level of actualling producing it, perhaps?

Unlike animals, humans can actively consent on having their milk harvested for consumption by others.

So, the only hurdle to really solve is perhaps the resistance or taboo of human milk being like any other milk, if not even fairer.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

ive had human milk ice cream

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

Care to share the experience?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I've worked around buffalo, the last bloody thing I would do is try to milk one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Honestly, I’ve never seen buffalo milk being sold, but cheese, is super common.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

It's exceedingly popular up in the manor...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Idk. Think of the incredible mozzarella you could make with it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Is this what those brain worms I keeping hearing so much about, look like?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

I had some Ben and Jerry's dairy free made from sunflower oil recently. Fucking amazing, better than ice cream I thought. But the oatly stuff is pretty good too. Anyone know how this haagen dazs tastes?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

100% chance this person is from Alberta

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

He's from New Brunswick but screams "Albertan Douchebag"
