This used to happen on Reddit all the time. It's a matter of error handling correctly, either on the Lemmy instance itself, or the app you're using to interact with it. This is a growing pain that will hopefully sorted out in the future.

I see doubles a lot, but recently I saw one duplicate like ten times. I think Lemmy lacks sanity checks to keep that from happening. It will probably get fixed at some point.
people lagging the pressing the submit buttons a few times
Not sure whether this was definitely the issue, but interesting nonetheless.
I have been guilty of this:
It happens when I have written a post or a comment, and then submit it. If the server load is high, it does not get submitted right away and load the result, so I am left wondering if it worked at all.
Press submit again, ah yes now it worked. But in fact the first submission also worked, I just didn't see it, so now there are two, and I don't even know!
With the amazing performance improvement launched today, I would guess that this sort of problem will ich be rare from now on.
Was seeing this a lot this morning. One post was there 11 times.
