A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

I open it to prevent the beeping. I'd press stop but that beeps too.

Most (probably) all microwaves can be silenced. Usually by holding the "2" botton for 3 seconds.

I'll give that a go. Figured it just wasn't possible unless it has a button for it. Thanks for the tip.

Same. And there is no way to turn off the beeping. So frustrating.

Google the brand and/or model number of your microwave they usually can be silenced.

New fear unlocked.

Animated GIF of a scene from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Arc where the bad guys' faces are melting off having just looked into the freshly-opened ark.

I had read recently that opening the door while it's running triggers an emergency shutoff that is quicker than normal operation. Apparently this is bad for the longevity of the microwave.
