Oppressive police states are usually very safe.

Oppressive police state, not really. You wont be killed or beaten up by the police. The police will arrest you peacefully and you will stand before a judge and receive your sentence, which may be excessively harsh.

Anyways, I shared the video because it shows how Jeddah has a good amount of medium density housing neighborhoods with good walkability.

You are right, Saudi police only beat women to death. And who cares about those.

You mean this story from 2022? https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/saudi-arabia-police-chasing-beating-women-orphanage-video

They didn't beat women to death. It was a shocking incident that drew public outcry, an exception rather than a rule.

In response to the video, the governor of the province, Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, ordered the formation of a committee to investigate “all parties” of the incident and “refer the case to the competent authority”.

Either way, I understand it is an uphill battle when it comes to anything Arab or MENA-related. As someone who is completely burnt out, I'd rather put my energy towards something else. Saudi Arabia is rich, it can hire someone to defend it.
