I read the article, and I still have no idea what the hell they're doing, other than throwing around bullshit crypto buzzwords.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 months ago

It looks like all they do is make those money pit “idle” games, with the promise of winning cryptocurrency, I guess.

Something about "Gangster Arena" and "Gangster Arena 2"? BRB, seeing if Jauwn covered that first.

Yeah the article says nothing. The only thing about games is they are going to be 'fun' (Doubt they have heard of Raph Koster) and 'an ecosystem' and 'a gameification layer', it says nothing real it is all buzzwords.

Also 'a 150 eth game volume' considering wash trading exists, and they don't mention if they subtracted their own internal trading from this volume. This seems rather low. .5mil trading over the whole season.

oh naming this fucking thing Uncharted (a Naughty Dog/Sony franchise that makes a shitload of money and got a movie 2 years ago) won’t end well if anyone in the industry notices. but crypto projects compulsively steal names for SEO, so here’s more weird stolen names from the article:

with participation from The Spartan Group

Halo and also a bunch of chud shit (and also history)

32-bit

this one’s just confusing? it’s a relatively small integer size for most things crypto-related, and architecturally it hasn’t been exciting since the early 90s (when computers and consoles being 16-bit, no ours is 32-bit, well do the maths cause Jaguar is 64-bit, was a big marketing thing) but I’m sure there’s an SEO gambit here

A while back it was revealed that when journalists report on those homebrew fanart things (often happens with nintendo properties) and lawyers/people at the company in question read that, it forces them to go after it to shut it down (A thing long rumored about). And that is fanart projects which don't make any money, so jumping into the games industry with the trademarked name of a different IP is quite a balsy move. Lets see how it works out for them.

Referencing THE suppository of all nerd references for SEO is the real big brain move.

The best part about web3 gaming is that the paradigm of gaming has been revolutionised, now people can play for crypto instead of the obsolete notion of fun

did ZIRP seriously rot some people's brains out? Who can believe that playing a video game could have a financial incentive (that's not something like grinding currency in a 100k player mmo)? This is so mind-numbingly asinine that I can't even come up with a sarcastic remark.

Who can believe that playing a video game could have a financial incentive

IMO it is completely reasonable that crypto believers would believe in this specific expression of a “money making” game

clearly goes really well:
