I've been fighting poor performance in games like Mario Odyssey and Kirby Lost World for about a day and a half. If you are experiencing the same, open Yuzu in Desktop mode and find where it says "Docked" at the bottom of the main screen. Clicking on it will switch to "Handheld" and you'll fix 100% of your issues.
Turns out Emudeck defaults Yuzu to docked mode, which causes games to render at 1080p. This is a bit too much for the Deck to handle, but Handheld mode forces 720p, which the Steam Deck is more than capable of running.
