Aqara P2 Thread Motion/Light Sensor package contents

Hi all,

For anyone interested, I disassembled and tested the new Aqara P2 Thread Motion/Light sensor.

The device features a very wide detection angle of 170° at a distance of maximum 7 meters. It integrates easily in a Home Assistant Thread network (I used the Sonoff ZBDongle-E as a border router) and operates completely locally and without delays.

The P2 is almost identical to the previous Zigbee version (P1), with the only notable difference being the Thread radio. Size, batteries, PIR capability is completely the same. However, settings like sensitivity and relay cannot be set at the moment (Matter limitation) on this new P2 version.

Here's my deep-dive with details for anyone interested: Aqara P2 Thread Motion/Light Sensor Review

TLDR: Has excellent range, wide detection angle and works great over Thread in Home Assistant, but exposes no setting/adjustment clusters (Matter limitation). If you have the P1 (Zigbee) or similar, there's no need to replace it IMHO.
