I work for a mid sized global company. Myself and my counterpart at another location handle all of the equipment returns for all of the US. We have users returning differing amounts of equipment including laptops, monitors, monitor stands, printers, docks, and cell phones. My counterpart has a very adept shipping department that customizes the boxes they send with a lot of packing material, but it requires back and forth with the user to determine how many boxes and what size to send.
I don't have an adept shipping department. Currently, I have people go straight to UPS or fedex and use our account information to have them pack and ship it all, eliminating any back and forth with the user and doesn't force the user to pack at all. Recently I've had issues with UPS not allowing people to use our account information, but I hate the idea of chasing down users to get all the dimensions needed, then being a middle-man with the shipping department to get everything coordinated.
I feel like the easiest way for us is to have a concur account for users so they can just get reimbursed for shipping equipment back, but I would need to convince my boss of this.
