I'm trying to backup some stuff to dropbox from my hdd (~300GB of photos and videos), but my hdd keeps being disconnected on its own? and how the hell do I clear all notifications?

This is a feature, not a bug. Tim Apple knows what's best for you, so shut up.

(Seriously though, if there are no physical problems going on, the drive may be trying to sleep? All my system and app messages always get collapsed by default, so I dunno.)

Exactly, I want to use the features as Tim Apple our lord and saviour means it to be.

I left it overnight to offload by HDD to the cloud, and woke up to 8365920274 notifications that I've spent 5mins and counting closing :X

does your HDD gets enough power? (or this isn't a question anymore since we have these fancy connectors and cables?)

I don't know how to do this but I would like to point out that it's very funny. Maybe something in the power saving settings, power nap or something idk.
