The rest of the world: this is how all our bills work

Protip for apps/services that require monthly payments: pay and immediately cancel. You've already payed for a month, so the service will keep working until the next billing day, but it won't renew because you've already canceled.

that service will keep working until the next billing day

You wish. I have had one too many services that cancel immediately upon request, even if you paid for the month 3 days ago.

Maybe it differs per country or state. I've done it dozens of times, never failed me.

I live in the Netherlands, maybe theres a law that mandates it, but I'm not 100% sure.

I live in the Netherlands too, but I'm certain this was an online service from the US. It's definitely a minority of them but it happens nonetheless

What's the problem though?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

If you didn't budget for it or your intended to cancel it

Ok, Mr. Moneybags who's never had an overdraft fee

(JK, I don't know you or your life, in case the reading comprehensionless mob comes for me)

Nah man, I'm not rich at all lmao. I just make a budget every month and live up to it D:. Never got into these kinds of problems because of this

We don't like neurotypicals with all their successful executive functioning 'round these parts. Now go on... git!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm autistic though but sure :p

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can I still be jealous of your executive function? ;)

The feeling if a greedy stranger came up to you and snatched your Starbucks Cake Pop right out of your fingers before you could enjoy it but actually you forgot you were just holding it for your wife. You would rather be home but “brunch with the girls” every month was YOUR idea! It’s all your fault but you’re still salty they stole that delicious moment of sugary bliss from you without any warning and now you have to go home, cake-pop-less and cry your broke ass to sleep.

If you gave up your monthly cake pop you'd be able to afford a house, silly millenial

I have 0 things on autopay. I pay my insurance each month myself. I'm the only one who should be able to take money out of my account

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Weird flex.

I've got better things to do with my time than manually enter the electric / water / whatever payment. I'm not ever going to choose to not pay it or dispute before the due date. Ever.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

NEVER put anything on autopay!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think you mean always put everything on auto pay.

Only if you've already lost the control of your life a long time ago.... then it really doesn't matter and you might not care about anything but wine about having no money.
