I love that I can dump all my knowledge there and have it be easily searchable on my PC, phone, etc. I love that I can take notes, attach PDFs and images, or make my own canvases and excalidraw diagrams. It's awesome and flexible.

I hate that it's not FOSS. I appreciate that it's an open format (plaintext Markdown files) and prefer closed app and open data to the reverse (Joplin is open source, but mangles notes into a database). I'm strongly considering giving logseq a try, but some of my favorite obsidian features have become a crutch that I don't know if I want to live without.

i love I have a central place i can put everything I need to reference or remember and have it backed up to Git for version control and all the connections between documents relate to each other the way they do in my head.

What I hate is the phone app not letting me have a default template or template select on news document. I also wish it was open source but I won't fault them for that. I also hate that the git plug in doesn't work on mobile so I have to do a sync and commit from my server vs committing directly.

It would be amazing to have a way to not have to use the Sync system across all devices. I get Sync is good for most people but it has its limits compared to using Git or other methods.

Also, it's always good to have your notes work the way they do in your head.

yeah I known it sounds weird but i group my messages normally but also tag based on emotions, smells, tastes and other sensory input I feeling when experiencing the thing I'm writing about. It helps me connect to the information and helps with recall to put me back in that place.

For mobile: there isn't a widget to create a note from a template.

I really just want to be open source.

I so really missed the Outline feature of Logseq when using it. It's hard to lose that.

Syncing probably, but even that can be solved by another excellent software called Syncthing... Or just spend money to subscribe to their sync service, if you have it :)

The start up time seems to be pretty slow to me, barely a problem in desktop, but on mobile it genuinely bothers me

Their sync service is way too expensive but then again the software is free and too good.

I just wish it was open source. I love everything else about it pretty much.

The syntax for inline linking to pages with a space in their name is awful

For some reason my obsidian can only remember 3 or so vaults, when I want to open another I need to enable thrust and have to reindex the data.

What I love is that everything is a file and is easily backed up and restored via git.
