This version of the multidirectional elevator is neat because it's not an exotic modern solution or just a concept, but an actual practical machine that's widely used. It's not quite fresh content but it holds up.

Another benefit I can see with this design, it'll reduce or eliminate pedestrians chucking stuff onto the traffic below. I live in Texas and there are tons of news articles about shit heads throwing rocks and bricks at cars "for fun?".
