"U.S. intelligence officials are planning to brief #Trump on national security matters if he secures the GOP nomination this summer — despite concerns about his handling of classified information.

The decision would be in keeping with a tradition that dates back to 1952, but it would mark the first time an admin has volunteered to share classified information with a candidate who is facing criminal charges on charges that he mishandled classified documents." https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/07/biden-intel-briefings-trump-00145651

@[email protected] @[email protected] I was going to call it a "canary trap," but yeah, that's exactly what it is.

Leaving it until he's elected would both drastically reduce the time available for him to trip himself; and also make it damnably diffiicult to prosecute the same before innaug

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] I came here to say this. It would be counterintelligence malpractice not to use Trump's briefings to set up a canary trap/barium meal test. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canary_trap

@[email protected] Oh god. Maybe it's a trap? Feed him bogus info and see where it leaks.

@[email protected] Everyone keeps saying that. I highly doubt it.

@[email protected] @[email protected] isn't he already given access to the PDB as a former president?

It's not likely HE'LL read them given he couldn't read them while President, had them dumbed down and read aloud to him.

But they're worth a lot to other people. but, again, doesn't he already have access?

@philip_[email protected] Biden halted the practice owing to TFG's stolen docs and coziness with Putin and KJU. This action would permit it again.

@[email protected] My brother used to work with a fellow who was part of the team that prepared daily security briefings for tRump while he was in office. One day, he asked the guy how it was going and the reply was that it was becoming almost impossible. Normally, the briefings were prepared almost entirely in text, but increasingly they were having to prepare them almost entirely in images. Let that sink in: high level, detailed, complex security briefings prepared like a child's picture book...

@GottaLaff So, I wonder how much tRump is actually capable of understanding what's in whatever they give him.
