I have over 1600 hours logged in HoI4, so maybe this question doesnt make alot of sense to ask, but I havent played in years so I've missed a few major updates and DLCs. ALOT of my hours were in Kaiserreich, but I wanna try out vanilla again, with DLC especially when it goes on sale this week.

Just wanted to ask anyone who's stayed caught up on updates what a good country would be to learn new mechanics on and take the fight to the fascists, social or trad

Soviets are easy to get into because you don’t have to mess around with ships at all. Plus it’s fun to build train infrastructure, stack tanks and CAS, and then roll over the Germans like it’s nothing

I have like 1500 hours into hoi4, I turn all the Soviet settings up and get drunk and murder all the fascists

Italy is generally considered the tutorial nation, but if you absolutely can't stomach playing as fascists even just to get a hang of the mechanics, Canada is pretty safe and the other Allies will do the heavy lifting for you.
