Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

MODERATORS

Why in the flying fuck someone could think that's a smart move, I mean, if I would like to talk to an "AI" I would self-host my own "AI" girlfriend.

That's so fucking creepy and dumb.

Downvoted, this is a commonly shared popular opinion.

They’re doing it to milk men of their cash. They also use real women’s picture/video packs to take the life of the woman. It’s called ewhoring and it’s a whole underground scheme where packs are traded and purchased.

Thx for the info mate documented myself into the subject and the most probably you are correct 👍👍

I’ll go with the actual unpopular opinion.

I would love to use an AI to set up what sort of woman I’m interested in, topics it can discuss and whatnot. Then let it swipe for me, start and maintain some short conversations in my writing style. It could notify when it’s time to ask the person out on a date and from there on I could take over the conversation.

It’s dystopian for sure, but getting a date is basically just a numbers game. Would love getting to skip actually doing that part…

My biggest issue with that is people would deliberately lie to the AI to improve their chances of finding a match they like, disregarding any preference their potential partner would have.

For example, plenty of women typically don't find balding/bald guys attractive in comparison. So if most women's AI avoided balding men, then the balding men would just find ways to obfuscate their baldness. Then the women would have to verify for themselves that the guy isn't bald, making the AI useless in that regard.

Also the AI will definitely charge for its services, and I will never pay to go on a date with someone.

Edit: also, if you're asking women to chat with a bot of yourself, rather than yourself, you severely underestimate the amount of matches and messages we get on any dating app. Why would I ever waste time talking to a bot when there's real guys to chat with?

Haha yeah for sure. Though that’s already done today with very old pictures and the likes.

I guess the user (me) would be the one paying!

I’m not at all underestimating that, it’s the very reason I would like a bot to do it. For an average guy there’s about a 2% of getting a match. After that you need to get a response, which is far from an easy feat. Honestly, I’d be pleased with an AI that swiped for me and got the first reply to be honest.

It’s just tedious work for - often - very little benefit!
