Dumbphones

Smartphones dominate the world. But have we become smarter by using them?

This community is oriented for people who prefer either so-called "dumbphones" or "feature phones" in order to regain control of their life.

Here is a very simple set of rules to follow:

  1. Don't be rude to others.
  2. Don't harass or shame somebody for not being hardcore dumbphones fan. Everybody does it his own way.
  3. Keep this community simple: discussions must be dumbphone or smartphone-oriented, not about dogs or food.

All in all, enjoy your time here :D

Just as title says, what do you carry with yourself on daily basis?

Here is my EDC for now: heavily dumbed down smartphone (it's temporary, I'm working on transitioning to flip phone), MP3 player, notebook and an ordinary book. Oh, and I also carry a pack of game cards like UNO just in case I meet a friend outside.

Ah so nice to see a dumb phone group on Lemmy now!

My EDC:

  1. Casio watch: Used to use an Apple watch cellular, a previous no-phone daily driver.

  2. Nokia 105 4G: My daily driver.

  3. Locked down, old 2020 iPhone SE: Can only do banking, GPS and Whatsapp. (Need them to access desktop apps via 2FA.)

  4. Physical cards and wallets again: Losing so many of my banking perks and free coffees now, I saw yesterday.

  5. Kindle: Sharing my wife's Kindle for reading, otherwise reading physical books.

  6. Notebook and pen: Slowly transitioning away from reminders and notes on laptop and iPhone to bulletjournal.

Myself I have a Duoqin F22 Pro which is dumbed down, having only WhatsApp/WeChat/Spotify and banking apps on it. I'm currently writing a debloating/rooting/etc guide for it which I might link here later :) I don't need to carry many things with me since I almost never go far away from home.
