EDIT: thanks for the help. Solution was to connect my phone through USB and download the driver through it's shared connection. Just plug in through USB, enable Hotspot, and enable usb tethering.

I am having trouble with my wifi drivers. Before installing mint, I checked that I had them. I ran the test of mint, had the same issue but was able to install the driver from the USB.

After installing mint, I now try to I'd the same, but it can't do it. It asks to mount the instalation drive and when I procede, it tells me it can't download the package whilst offline, even though it did when I tested mint before installing.

Any tips on what I could do? I have no ether/cable connection but I assume that the driver should be on the USB if it managed to install during testing?

Ps: interesting thing is, if I try to boot from the USB, I get the option between the drives that I want to boor from and wifi. The wifi actually works there!

Try tethering your phone over USB. It's how I used to install Gentoo in the past before the system was fully installed and WPA-Suoplicant was available.

Yep! Just did this and it worked! Just needed to enable hot soon and usb tethering

Had the same issue. I used the live disk and went through the install process with that inserted.

Boot into Mint, pop the live disk in and select the Broadcom driver and proceed.

This is what I am doing and although I am prompted to mount the usb, and it finds the driver there, when I ask it to apply changes it says it can't download the packages whilst offline.

It's very strange because i can install the drivers when testing mint from the USB and also the wifi works when I choose what drive to boot from

Try an Ethernet adaptor and download over that?

You can get (or borrow) a usb to eth adaptor.

Ah nice! Its just frustrating because I know that the driver must be on the USB stick as Mint has managed to install the drivers when testing.

Yep it’s a bit mystifying tbh. It worked for me following instructions to use the live usb to install the driver. Not sure why it hasn’t worked for you. Maybe wait for someone who knows more than me to respond before shelling out on an adaptor?

It worked by connecting my phone through USB and downloading the driver through that! Just plug in through USB, enable Hotspot, and enable us tethering.
