It opening back up before the big wave of users on July 1st is also very unfortunate.
Subs should stay in protest at least until a week after Sync for Lemmy and some of the many apps in development release in a few weeks imo
1. Posts must be related to the discussion of digital piracy
2. Don't request invites, trade, sell, or self-promote
3. Don't request or link to specific pirated titles, including DMs
4. Don't submit low-quality posts, be entitled, or harass others

Given this update I don't think the mods have a real choice on that. The original top mods have been removed, the new ones opened it back up.
Thinking like a good little git(hub) user, the term "Forked Community on Lemmy" came to mind all too easily.
Yep, good suggestion 👍.
So it would just say "Lemmy forum"? I doubt most normies would know what that means and just keep using reddit.
Most people coming to a piracy sub would know what forums are, and by now have probably heard of Lemmy already
I guess they could put (federated reddit alternative)
next to the link
Lemmy forum and a link.
Seems to me that Reddit mods are too concerned with staying “in power” than actually building communities and sharing knowledge. Caving to reddits demands just to maintain their mod status is so sad to me
